Four Different Types Of Air Filters
When it comes to your indoor air quality, your HVAC system is your best friend. More specifically, the filter in your HVAC system. The greater the filtration ability of a filter, the better it is for you! Below are four types of common filters found in HVAC systems.
1. Fiberglass Filter.
This is the most common type of filter, were layers of fiberglass fibers are laid over each other to form the filter. The fiberglass fibers are then reinforced with a metal grating which helps prevent failure.
2. Polyester and Pleated Filters.
These two types of filters are very similar to fiberglass, except they typically have a higher resistance to airflow and stopping dust and other airborne particles.
3. High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance (HEPA) Filters.
HEPA units filter air at a very fine scale. Any U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) contractor uses HEPA filters that meet DOE standards, which filter 99.97 percent of all particles!
4. Washable Air Filters.
These air filters aren’t as common, as they rely on the build-up of dust to improve the efficiency of the filter.
Air filters have improved significantly throughout the years, leading to more efficient and less costly units. If your air conditioning system isn’t working efficiently, contact Jupiter-Tequesta.
