Common Issues Your Air Handling System Can Cause

Posted on August 12th, 2020 by Jupiter Tequesta

Mold isn’t the only thing that can build-up in your air handling system! Mildew, bacteria, and viruses can breed here, causing many kinds of issues for your home. It’s best to combat the growth of these annoyances, before any serious damage or problems arise for you and your family. Here are just some of the issues that could happen:

Bad Odors

If you notice some strange smells coming from your ducts and air systems, you may have a decent build-up of mold, bacteria, and more. These bad odors can spread throughout your home, spreading the germs with it. Once it’s in your air vents, it gets blown all over.

Spread of Dangerous Bacteria and Mold

You never want to let mold and bacteria fester anywhere in your home for a long amount of time. The long it sits, the more it grows and becomes more dangerous to you! And once these things are in your air system, they travel throughout your entire home.

Biological Contamination

Biological contamination is where harmful bacteria travels through the air and onto various food products you have out. This allows the spores to contaminate your food, which is often a cause for food poisoning at home or sickness. If the bacteria is in your air handling system, it is most likely on your food as well.

Air Conditioner Blockage or Damage

For optimal running, your air conditioners and other systems should be cleaned regularly. If you skip out on this, your units will be more susceptible to getting blocked up with mold and mildew. From this, blockages or damage can occur in the system.
