Common Air Conditioning Problems

Posted on April 7th, 2016 by Jupiter Tequesta

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAir conditioning problems are a homeowner nightmare.  No one wants to be stuck without A/C on a hot summer day.  That’s why it’s so important to have your air conditioning system tuned-up early in the season.  This maintenance helps ensure that your system will work efficiently through the summer months, when you need it most!  Here are a few of the most common air conditioning problems homeowners face.

Common A/C Problems:

  • Your Refrigerant is Leaking – Inadequate refrigerant will leave you with an air conditioning system that is not working efficiently.  It may not blow cool air or it may not work at all.  A refrigerant leak is also harmful to the environment. If you think that you may have a leak, it’s important to take the time to get it fixed.
  • The System is Due for Maintenance – When air filters become clogged and dirty, the air conditioner will not work efficiently.  It will be more difficult for cool, air conditioned air to move throughout your home.  As a result. you might experience problems with your air conditioner.
  • Electrical Problems – Your compressor and fan controls can wear out over time, especially if your A/C unit turns on and off frequently.  It’s important to have the right sized system for your home so that your electrical connections stay in optimal condition for a long time to come.
  • Drainage Issues – Florida air is naturally humid.  On hot days, your condensate drain can become clogged and your A/C system won’t drain properly.  This will keep your A/C system from working efficiently.
