Unfortunately, it’s effortless to accidentally waste water both in and out of the home. Once we get into a routine, it can be hard to snap out of it. But, it’s essential to try and create a new regime– one where we are living a greener lifestyle.

Here are some ways you might have been wasting water and some habits to consider breaking:

Leaving The Water Running

It’s important to remember to turn off your faucet when you aren’t actively using it. Be mindful of turning off the water while you’re brushing your teeth, or while you don’t need it. This can also apply to when you’re cooking and cleaning– just flip the handle.

Taking Long Showers

A lot of people are guilty of this one; it’s not just you. It’s easy to lose track of time and end up taking longer than you should have to shower. Try setting a timer or cutting back your showering span every day, so that eventually you get more used to shorter ones.

Buying Bottled Waters

We live in an age where it’s very easy to choose convenience over conservation. However, by keeping your water in reusable bottles, you can help cut back water waste by a considerable margin. Not to mention, it saves you money, too.

Leaks in Plumbing

Did you know that 10,000 gallons of water is wasted every year, due to the average household leak? Keep an eye out for your toilets, faucets, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures for any leaking. The sooner you get it fixed, the better.
