AC Won’t Turn On? Here’s What to Do
There’s almost nothing worse than a malfunctioning air conditioner on a hot, humid day. If you’re like most people, you’ll want to avoid calling for help until it’s absolutely necessary. With that in mind, here’s a list of things to try before contacting Jupiter-Tequesta Air Conditioning, Pluming & Electric: 1. Clean the filter We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: A dirty air filter makes for a less efficient system. In extreme cases, a clogged filter can actually stop your air conditioner from running. Replace or clean your filter, and then try turning the system back on. 2. Check your electrical panel It’s possible that the breaker is tripped. If it is, the switch will be positioned halfway in between on and off. Switch it off, and then switch it on. If the breaker trips again, then you need to call for service. 3. Adjust the thermostat During the summer, your thermostat should be set to “cool” and “auto.” Also, your AC won’t kick in if the temperature setting is equal to your current indoor air temperature. You may have to lower the temperature setting by a few degrees. When all else fails, give the experts of Jupiter-Tequesta Air Conditioning, Pluming & Electric a call. We offer fast, 24-hour 7-day emergency service, 365 days of the year.
