AC Tune-Up Tips for The Summer
Summer is heating up, and your HVAC is in overtime mode. While it’s common for energy bills to spike during the warmer months, there are ways to stabilize these costs so you don’t break the bank. Here are some maintenance tips on how to fine-tune your air conditioning unit during summertime.
Replace The Filter
One of the most commonly overlooked air conditioner maintenance jobs is changing out the filter. When dust, grime, and mold multiply, your AC is rendered useless. Hire a professional to do a routine maintenance call to make this process simple and quick.
Check The Dehumidifier
When your dehumidifier is constantly running, water tends to accumulate in the system and cause it to not run properly. With that said, you’ll need to dry out the unit to ensure that it’s working at peak efficiency. Simply remove the outer casing and allow the system to air-dry. Once the water has been completely dried up, you can put the casing back on and continue enjoying your system.
Inspect The Drainage Hole
Near the base of the cabinet, you’ll find your air conditioner’s drainage hole. If anything is obstructing this passageway, your HVAC system will have to work exponentially harder to cool the coils. Using a paper clip, you can clean out the hole to guarantee that it’s operating properly.
Clean Bathroom Fans
Again, it’s imperative that these features be devoid of dirt and mildew. In the bathroom, specifically, it’s easy for these impurities to build up. Fortunately, cleaning the fans is as simple as using soap and water to wipe off the area.
*Pro tip: Be sure turn your power off before beginning the cleaning process.
