Prevent Plumbing Problems Memorial Day Weekend
This weekend is filled with honor, patriotism, and plenty of celebrations. And, one of the last things people want to worry about at their backyard BBQ is a leaky faucet or toilet. If you happen to be the one hosting the party this Memorial Day weekend, here are a few tips to help you avoid any plumbing problems.
Be mindful of what you put down the drain. Leftovers such as meat bones, potato peels, vegetables and fruit get thrown to the trash, not the garbage disposal. Keep a list of items that don’t go down the drain near your kitchen sink for your guests.
Tip: Run the sink water for 10 – 15 seconds before and after using your garbage disposal – this will help food make its way down the drain.
Check your sprinklers. Your sprinkler system has been in hibernation for the past few months, which can result in cracks and leaks. Make sure you thoroughly clean your sprinkler system before you use it this holiday weekend.
Clean your bathroom. Your home’s toilet is going to see plenty of flushes this weekend. Try to keep any paper towels, sanitary napkins, or baby wipes out of the bathroom to avoid clogging your toilet.
