Plumbing Tips for the First Day of Summer
Happy First Day of Summer! How will you be enjoying the longest day of the year? Whether you will be relaxing in the pool, heading to the beach, hosting a BBQ, or washing the car, here are a few tips to make sure that your plumbing system runs smoothly today, and all season long. Plumbing Tips for Summer:
- Check Your Outdoor Hose Bibs - Summer is the season for gardening. Make sure to check your outdoor hose bibs for damage, if you haven’t already. Over the winter, hose bibs can become cracked.
- Check Your Sprinkler Heads - Watch out for your sprinkler heads when mowing the grass, and check for any leaks. Sprinkler leaks can add up to significant water loss over time.
- Install Low-Flow Fixtures - Updating your shower head to a low-flow fixture can help reduce your water use at home.
- Be Mindful of Your Garbage Disposal - The summer months are perfect for outdoor BBQs, but be sure to keep rib bones and starchy vegetables out of your drains. Bones can damage your disposal blades, and starchy vegetables can expand and clog your drain.
