Facts About Air-Source Pool Heaters
Do you have a pool in your backyard? Would you like to swim at a comfortable temperature every day of the year? Add an air-source pool heater to your shopping list. With air-source pool heaters, the hotter and sunnier, the better – perfect for us living in the sunshine state!
How they work
Air-source heat pumps operate by pulling in and harvesting free heat from the air. The air is transferred to a heat exchanger where water flows and simultaneously heats up. From there, the heated water is pumped back into the pool.
Your desired temperature for your pool affects the size of the pool’s heater and your heating costs. The American Red Cross recommends a temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for adequate fuel savings. For each degree rise in temperature, your energy costs will rise 10 to 30 percent.
– Cost effective. Heat pump pool heaters have much lower annual operating costs due to their high efficiencies. With proper maintenance, heat pumps can last for almost 15 years, therefore saving you money in the long run.
– Energy efficient. Determining a heat pump’s energy efficiency is measured by its coefficient of performance (COP). The higher the better, and air-source heat pumps have a COP between five and six – highly energy efficient!
