3 Plumbing Tips for Pet Parents
Owning a pet has its fair share of ups and downs. Yes, our furry friends give unconditional love, but they can also wreak havoc on a home’s plumbing. With that said, here are a few plumbing tips for pet parents:
1. Keep your toilet in pristine condition
Pets that drink out of the toilet often leave a mess behind. But more importantly, pets can transfer bacteria from the toilet to anyone in your house with one not-so-innocent lick. Cleaning your toilet bowl every day discourages pets from using it as a water fountain.
2. Bathe them outside
The warm weather in our area makes this one a no-brainer. Why wash your pet in the tub when you could simply hose him down? Giving your dog or cat a bath will only lead to a big mess and a hairy clog. If you do have to bathe your dog inside, be sure to put a strainer in the drain.
3. Take them on walks
Walking the dog has a lot of benefits: exercise, bonding time, etc. One you probably don’t think about is protecting your pipes! When left unattended in the yard, dogs have been known to dig up and chew on water pipes — especially on hot days.
